UPDATE: Rostelecom’s head Kalugin may quit soon – source
(Adds more comments on offer to Kalugin in last two paragraphs)
MOSCOW, Feb 16 (PRIME) -- President of Russian state-controlled telecom operator Rostelecom, Sergei Kalugin, may quit, a government source said on Thursday.
Mass media earlier reported, quoting sources, that the Communications and Mass Media Ministry had crafted a directive to change Rostelecom’s head and submitted it to the government, but it has not been agreed upon yet.
The ministry would like to see Mikhail Oseyevsky, deputy chairman at VTB Bank in charge of small and medium-sized business development, instead of Kalugin.
An unnamed federal official familiar with the situation said later on Thursday that Kalugin may be appointed a deputy to the communications minister. “(Kalugin) was offered a position of a deputy minister. He has not responded yet,” the official said.
The ministry and Rostelecom decline to comment.
